Party with Alabama Seafood at the BCS National Championship Game

Former University of Alabama and then Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Bob Baumhower is teaming up once again with Kim Bokamper to celebrate The University of Alabama’s BCS Championship appearance in Miami with an Alabama Gulf Seafood Tailgate Party Saturday, January 5 at Bokamper’s Sports Bar and Grill in Miramar. Baumhower and Bokamper both played for the Dolphins in the 70’s and 80’s and were part of the famed Miami Dolphin “Killer B’s” Defense.

The event is being co-hosted by Baumhower’s signature restaurants, The Compleat Angler and Baumhower’s, Bokamper’s Sports Bar and Grill, Alabama Tourism’s Year of Food, and Alabama Gulf Seafood.

The Alabama Gulf Seafood Tailgate Party will bring together former Alabama and Miami Dolphin players – including Dwight Stephenson, Tony Nathan and Don McNeal – some notable food celebrities including Food Network Star finalist Martie Duncan and Bob Baumhower’s Corporate Chef Steve Zucker, and Orange Beach, Alabama “Seafood Boil-Masters” Dale Burgess and Danny Martin. Guests will have access to an afternoon of autograph signing opportunities, and panel discussions, including Chef Zucker’s insider tips about how to best prepare Alabama Gulf Seafood. It is open to the public, and admission is free.

Classic Alabama Gulf Seafood dishes, featuring the same gumbo served at Baumhower’s and The Compleat Angler Restaurants throughout the State of Alabama courtesy of Baumhower and Chef Steve Zucker, as well as a classic Alabama Gulf Shrimp Boil, will be available for purchase. Event proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“As The University of Alabama makes the trip to Miami to defend its BCS Championship title, we wanted to take the opportunity to showcase Alabama’s award-winning seafood and chefs to visitors and locals,” said Chris Blankenship, program administrator for Alabama Gulf Seafood.

And what Tailgate Party would be complete without a little reminiscing of football glory days? Special guests will share their favorite memories of playing for the Tide, what it was like to play for legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, and their thoughts on the Alabama-Notre Dame rivalry.

“We know that Alabama fans will take over Miami the weekend ahead of the game, and we wanted to throw a Championship-worthy tailgate party complete with the best Alabama Gulf Seafood and a few of the best players from Alabama’s incredible football history,” Baumhower said. “It will be great to team up with Kim once again, this time off the field.”

The Alabama Gulf Seafood Tailgate Party will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5 at Bokamper’s Miramar location, at 15500 Southwest 29th St.
