Duck Commander Matriarch Miss Kay Added to Alabama Seafood Cook-Off Judges Lineup
We’re proud to announce that Kay Robertson, Duck Commander matriarch and author of multiple lauded cookbooks, will serve as guest celebrity judge at the upcoming 2nd Annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off (ASCO), set for May 25 at The Wharf at Orange Beach.
Chef Chris Sherrill of Flora-Bama Yacht Club, who will also serve as an ASCO judge, is a personal friend of Robertson and approached “Miss Kay,” as she is popularly known, about participating in the event. Sherrill and Miss Kay first met when he cooked for her and her family while they were vacationing along the Alabama Gulf Coast.
“Miss Kay is the loveliest and sweetest person I’ve ever met, and she also really appreciates a home-cooked meal,” said Sherrill.“Our relationship has grown over the last year and has even included menu collaborations. It made perfect sense to invite her to this fantastic event that showcases both Alabama seafood and heritage. Her insight for our chefs will be invaluable.”
Of course, Miss Kay’s celebrity appeal will turn a lot of heads. But make no mistake—she’s a culinary expert in her own right.
“Not only is Miss Kay an integral part of her famous family, but she is also a superb chef in the kitchen,” said Chris Blankenship, director of Marine Resources and program administrator for Alabama Gulf Seafood. “We are proud to have her onsite adding a celebrity element and know her skills will resonate with fellow judges and participants.”
The May 25 ASCO will be visible to the general public onsite at The Wharf.
