Where were you born and raised?

Bayou La Batre, AL.

How did you come to work in Alabama’s seafood industry?

Born in it, and it’s all I’ve ever known. I use to open oysters in the morning, then walk to school.

What other jobs, if any, have you held within Alabama’s seafood industry?

I am still to this day a commercial fisherman as well. Years ago, I also owned a small shrimp boat.

What does your typical workday involve?

Unloading oysters in the shell, processing by shucking, washing, packaging, and loading trucks. It’s a lot of work daily, but this is my heritage.

What makes your company/organization stand out within Alabama’s seafood industry?

Because it is owned and operated by my family, my son, my daughter, and my wife all take pride in working together to provide a premium product to our customers daily.

What is something about Alabama’s seafood industry that everyone should know?

That behind every product, every oyster is hard-working men and women that pride themselves in the effort it takes to get this product from the water to your table.

What’s your favorite seafood dish to serve up for yourself and your family?

Seafood is kind of a staple in our house. Oysters being the top of the list, and also I have to say I really enjoy seafood gumbo with shrimp and crab.

What makes Alabama Gulf Seafood special?

I’m partial to Alabama because its home. The seafood is always better when you know the hard work and sweat and equity behind the people that produce/process the product.

If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Retire and fish some more.

If you didn’t work in the Alabama seafood industry, what line of work would you pursue?

I could not imagine working outside the seafood industry.
