Every year, Alabama’s Governor recognizes a number of individuals and organizations throughout the state who make a great contribution to our wildlife and natural resources. We’re proud to be this year’s seafood sponsor, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to partner up with an event that seeks to promote conservation education and awareness.
One of the finest seafood events in the country, the Great American Seafood Cook-Off gathers top chefs from various states in New Orleans to feature their native product. Alabama’s own Chef Jim Smith, executive chef for the State of Alabama, took home the gold in 2011, and we’ll be represented this year by Chef Josh Quick of Odette in Florence, the winner of our 2nd annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off. The 2nd annual Sloss Music & Arts Festival is returning to Birmingham this summer, and the historical Sloss Furnaces will host a whole slew of fantastic bands all over one weekend. It’s gonna be a hot one, so when your stomach needs to be refueled, visit us for some fresh Alabama Gulf Seafood.
Now in its 83rd year, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo on Dauphin Island is the largest fishing tournament in the world. Professional anglers from all over the world will congregate to reel in some of Coastal Alabama’s finest sport fish. Come on by for some of the biggest catches you’ll ever see!
There are plenty of reasons why thousands and thousands of folks gather on the beaches of Gulf Shores every May for the Hangout Music Fest. One of the Gulf Coast’s finest traditions, the annual Blessing of the Fleet in Bayou La Batre hearkens back to the fishing communities of Old World Europe where fishing boats were formally blessed to ensure a bountiful harvest each year. Alabama’s version of this ceremony is a lovely two-day event that the whole family will enjoy.
Formerly known as the Boston Seafood Show, Seafood Expo North America is North America’s largest seafood exposition, boasting thousands of buyers and suppliers from around the world. If you’re in the area, stop by and learn more about the latest products and developments from the seafood industry at large.
What’s the easiest way to find the best gumbo you’ve ever tasted? Simple: Find dozens of culinary teams and have them compete. That’s what the Episcopal Place Gumbo Gala has been doing for more than a decade now. Join us at this wonderful fund raiser for their 11th year, and make sure you come hungry!
