Shrimp are now in season here in Alabama, and what better way to celebrate than by eating lots and lots of fresh Gulf shrimp.
That’s the line of thinking that Alabama restaurateur Bob Baumhower and his team are following, and we can get behind that. Especially when it’s for a good cause.
On Saturday, June 27, Baumhower and his team will host the 2015 Baumhower’s ShrimpFest & BBQ Fundraiser & Rally at Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula. Patrons will enjoy Gulf seafood gumbo, Alabama BBQ, Conecuh Sausage, and of course plenty of fresh Gulf shrimp.
Additionally, the event will aid in fundraising for Alabama’s state parks.
“We have been placed at the center of the budget discussions this year, and this event will be perfect to rally our parks,” said Randy Jinks of Alabama State Parks. “Not just because of the budget, but also because we have a wonderful product to sell. And by gosh, we are going to sell it!”
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Music will be provided by Pell City’s Leverton Brothers Band. For more details, visit the event page.
Last year’s events were a big success and brought lots of positive attention to Alabama’s state parks and Alabama’s seafood industry. So if you’re in the area, stop by and enjoy a fresh, delicious, local meal with your friends, family, and neighbors.
