James Beard Award-Winning Chef Creates New Product Line, The Harvest Table

Sometimes, even when we’re craving Alabama Gulf Seafood, we just don’t have the time in our schedules to put together an elaborate recipe for dinner.

Piggly Wiggly understands this conundrum, and they’re here to help.

The grocery store chain introduced the first of potentially many pre-prepared Alabama Gulf Seafood dinners with a live cooking demo at the River Run Piggly Wiggly in Birmingham. Alabama Gulf Seafood’s own Guy Lott was on hand to help prepare the meal and evangelize about the quality of the product on display.

The new product line, created by a Southern James Beard award-winning chef, will be called The Harvest Table and will feature a variety of fresh Alabama Gulf Seafood dishes with quick, easy preparation, including a delicious Alabama Gulf Shrimp Paella (pictured above), a dish inspired by our featured chef’s childhood experiences.

“In addition to being chef-crafted, all natural, rigorously sourced, and GMO-, hormone-, and chemical-free, the meal is delicious,” said Lott. “We want to make certain that the flavors and the craftsmanship and the importance of values of the meal are resonating with the people who will pick it up, take it home, and share it with their friends and family.”

As Lott pointed out, this cooking demo was part of a broader “proof of concept” project that The Harvest Table and Piggly Wiggly are working on together. This shared vision will provide chef-crafted meals with natural, locally sourced products, all with the convenience of easy home preparation.

“We approached Andy Virciglio at the River Run Piggly Wiggly about this project, and he immediately jumped on board,” said Lott. “He has been an incredible supporter of the local community and any Alabama Gulf Seafood projects we have approached him with. Their customers there have always shown an appreciation of honestly raised, all-natural foods, and this public demo is a critical piece of seeing the broader vision to fruition.”
