West Jefferson, Alabama.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Training horses and watching my 15-year-old daughter compete at horse shows and rodeos.

How long have you worked in Alabama’s seafood industry?

I have been in the Alabama seafood business for 30 years.

What does your typical workday involve?

A typical day starts around 2-3am with a call from my plant supervisor Pat Cary letting me know if I can sleep for a couple more hours or if I need to get up and come on in and help cut fish. (We do not precut any fish; we cut to order, which ensures our customers the highest quality available.) I count my inventory at 7am, then I email our inventory to our great sales staff, talk to vendors about what they’ve got and what’s coming in, and talk to customers about what is coming in so they can plan their menus. These conversations go on until about 8-9pm, then we start all over again the next day.

What makes your company stand out within Alabama’s seafood industry?

I think we stand out because we care. We care about Alabama fishermen. We care about the man who brings me my seafood. We care about quality and service. And most of all, we care about our customers. If we say we sell Alabama seafood, then you can expect Alabama seafood.

What are your professional goals?

When people hear or say my name, they think of the best quality Gulf Seafood you can buy.

If you could spend the day with any celebrity or historical figure, who would it be?

Jesus Christ, the greatest fisherman of men.

If you didn’t work in the Alabama seafood industry, what line of work would you pursue?

I can’t think of any other work I would want to do. I love my job and the people I work with.
