Alabama Gulf Seafood that your business processes: Fish, Shrimp, Crab, and Oysters

Where were you born and raised?

Birmingham, AL.

How did you come to work in Alabama’s seafood industry?

Started at the age of 18 selling Alabama farmed-raised catfish at the Birmingham farmer’s market.

What types of seafood do you process/handle?

We process all types of Gulf finfish. We also sell gallon oysters, shelled oysters, shrimp, and grab. If it comes out of the Gulf, we have it.

What does your typical workday involve?

Most days start around 2-3am. Print invoices, load trucks out, sometimes make deliveries. Stay on the phone securing product with suppliers, and talking with customers until around 8pm. And I get to get up and do it again!

What makes your company stand out within Alabama’s seafood industry?

The dedication we have to selling and buying the highest quality, fully traceable domestic seafood consistently. We thrive to wow our customers with every delivery. I think our plant is one of the best in the South, and my partners and employees are one of the best teams I have ever been around. We have one of the strictest HACCAP plans I have ever seen. 90% of our gulf finfish come tagged with our partners at Gulf Wild.

What are your professional goals?

To be known as the guy you call when you want the freshest seafood.

What makes Alabama Gulf Seafood special?

The people!

What are your favorite hobbies?

Hauling my daughter around to compete in rodeos.

Do you own any pets?

Horses.

If you didn’t work in the Alabama seafood industry, what line of work would you pursue?

After 30 years, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I am blessed to be able to do what I love.
