Everybody eats. But in the South, we take our food pretty seriously. And that means providing fervent support for our distinctively Southern restaurants and chefs.

In 2012, Alabamians are taking food appreciation to a new level. The state has proclaimed 2012 as “The Year of Alabama Food” with a new list of “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die,” and on Aug. 17, culinary aficionados across the state will pile their plates high in celebration of the first ever Alabama Restaurant Week.

Over a ten-day period, more than 230 restaurants and cafés in Alabama will offer a host of fixed-price lunch and dinner specials for their patrons. And, of course, many of those restaurants will be serving up fresh Alabama Gulf Seafood.
