Bizarre Foods America Host Andrew Zimmern Visits Bayou La Batre
BAYOU LA BATRE, AL, July 19, 2013 – Travel Channel’s _Bizarre Foods America with Andrew Zimmern _will feature the Alabama Gulf Coast in its July 22 show. Zimmern visited Alabama earlier this year and extensively explored the Vietnamese fishing community of Bayou La Batre.
In the aptly titled segment, “Andrew’s Top 5 for Third Coast,” the celebrity gastronome highlighted his Alabama Gulf Seafood lunch with the Vietnamese family of David (Tùng) Ha Pham as his number one Gulf Coast moment, even topping Zimmern’s visit to the duck farm of celebrity chef John Besh.
“The Asian community has become such a vital and unique part of the Gulf Coast fishing community,” said Pham. “The mixture of cultures in the community has really created something special, and I was ecstatic to be able to share the passion we have for Alabama Gulf Seafood with Andrew.”
Viewers can catch the episode Monday, July 22, on The Travel Channel, airing at 9/8 p.m. (CST). Other parts of Alabama cuisine will also be featured in upcoming Bizarre Foods episodes including Hot and Hot Fish Club and Jim N Nicks BBQ on July 29.
