U.S. Congressman-elect Bradley Byrne will take a touch of the Gulf Coast to the nation’s capitol for his Jan. 8, 2014, inauguration celebration.
To highlight his official swearing in as a U.S. House Representative for Alabama, District 1 – which includes coastal Mobile and Baldwin Counties – U.S. Rep.-elect Byrne’s event will feature Alabama Gulf Seafood, including shrimp, crab and oysters.
“To showcase the diversity of South Alabama industry, I am proud to feature Alabama Gulf Seafood at my inauguration as Representative for Alabama’s First Congressional District. My family has eaten fresh and delicious Alabama seafood for generations, and in my judgment, there is truly none better,” says Rep.-elect Byrne. “This industry is vital to our economy and culture, and I look forward to working together with the seafood industry to represent their needs in Washington.”
The expected 150-person event will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Cannon Caucus Room on the U.S. Capitol Complex Campus. All seafood prepared and served will come from local waters and will help illustrate the culture, passion and dedication of those who live along the 53-mile Alabama Gulf Coast.
“We congratulate Rep.-elect Byrne on his election and his official inauguration, and we are honored to have our coastal fare represent his home and district at the upcoming D.C. celebration,” says Chris Blankenship, director of Alabama Marine Resources and Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission (ASMC) program administrator.
