How does one become a “Southern lifestyle expert” like Rebecca Gordon? Start with Southern cookin’.
After earning a Restaurant Management degree from the University of Alabama and specializing in Baking and Pastry Arts at Johnson and Wales University in South Carolina, Gordon earned her culinary chops as a pastry chef for some of the South’s finest restaurant, including Frank Stitt’s Highlands Bar and Grill and Bottega in Birmingham.
Gordon’s most recognizable role, though, is her 13-year association with the Southern Living brand. She began by traveling the South as a Foods and Entertainment Specialist for the Southern Living Cooking School. She moved on to serve as a contributing editor for the Southern Living magazine as well as their Test Kitchen Director, a role that brought her in touch with seafood celebrities like Chris Hastings and Lucy Buffet.
After her tenure with Southern Living, Gordon turned her attention to the web, launching Buttermilk Lipstick in early 2013. With this new lifestyle brand, Gordon celebrates Southern culture through everything from recipes to style round-ups.
