Alabama’s Catch & Cook Programs Provide Restaurant Quality for Your Fresh Catches
There’s nothing like being on Alabama’s coastal waters all morning and afternoon, reeling in some of our beautiful bounty.
While spending all day on the water is a dream for many of us, it can be pretty exhausting after a full day of fishing. Especially if you’ve caught some delicious fish that you’re hoping to cook as soon as possible—maybe even for dinner that night to take advantage of peak freshness.
Thankfully, here in Coastal Alabama, we’ve got plenty of restaurants willing to cook your catches for you. A handful of our local seafood spots participate in catch and cook programs where you can bring your fish that you caught that day, pay a menu price, and they’ll cook it up for you! Whether you prefer your fish golden fried with a basket of hush puppies and fries or you want to sit down to a fancier dinner, there’s nothing quite like eating what you were holding in your hand just hours ago.
Here’s our list of South Alabama restaurants that participate in catch and cook programs. Give them a call today and see if they’re the right fit for your next fresh-caught meal!
Doc’s Seafood Shack (Orange Beach)
Any restaurant that identifies as a “shack” is the kind that knows how to cook a good down-home meal. And at Doc’s, they’ll fix your fish however you want—fired, grilled, or blackened—including your choice of two sides, all for $15 per person.
Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina (Orange Beach)
If you catch a premium fish, you might want to give it the best preparation. That’s what Fisher’s offers, where the chef will create “a family-style dish that makes [your fish] shine to its fullest potential,” including recommended sides. It’ll cost you $35 per person if you fillet the fish yourself, or they’ll fillet it for you for $100 per fish.
Flora-Bama Yacht Club (Perdido Key)
With their own Flora-Bama Marina next door to the restaurant, it’s no surprise that the Flora-Bama Yacht Club loves cooking up fresh catches from coastal waters. Their Hook & Cook program will cook your fish Greek style, Cajun style, or fried, all for $15 per person. Keep in mind, there may be an upcharge if you have the kitchen clean your fish for you.
One of the newest catch and cook programs on Alabama’s Gulf Coast is also one of the most affordable. For just $7 per person, they’ll cook your fish up fried, grilled, or blackened and serve it with fries, cole slaw, and hush puppies. And if you want a quicker cook and prep time, they prefer if you bring your fish already filleted.
Perdido Beach Resort (Orange Beach)
The chefs at Perdido Beach Resort have a pair of options you can go for! Latitude 30 will cook your catches blackened, grilled, or fried and pair them with coleslaw, fries, and hushpuppies for $14.95. And if you’re looking for something a bit nicer, Voyagers will prepare your fish broiled, crab crusted, or pan roasted for $26.95 per person.
Tacky Jack’s (Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach)
With three convenient locations and coastal scenery, Tacky Jack’s is a great bet for a quick and delicious meal. You’ll have to fillet the fish yourself before you arrive, then they’ll prepare ‘em for $11 per head and serve it with fries and hush puppies.
Villaggio Grille (Orange Beach)
For a tasty option that’s somewhere in between the red checkered baskets and the white tablecloth, bring your catches to Villaggio Grille at The Wharf. For $18 per person, they’ll prepare your fish grilled, fried, or blackened with your choice of two sides.
